Mesothelioma refers to asbestos-caused cancers, which affect the lungs or abdomen and because different forms of it can go undetected in the body for a while, survival rates are often not that positive. A Mesothelioma Prognosis depends on a number of individual factors that surround the person in question: what their general health is like, how long they have had it for, where it is, and how receptive they are to treatment.
There are three types of Mesothelioma and each averages a different chance of survival. Epithelial mesothelioma is the most common, affecting up to 50% of cases but carries with it the biggest chances of survival. 15% of cases are sarcomatoid, and the remaining 35% of diagnoses are mixed. 80% of mesothelioma cases affect the lining of the lungs, a condition called pleural mesothelioma, and sufferers of this condition generally have the best chances of survival. 10 to 15% of mesotheliomas are peritoneal, meaning the condition is in the lining of the abdomen, and have a lower survival rate.
The average Mesothelioma Prognosis is one to two years after diagnosis, but it depends on how long the person has had the condition and how aggressively it has

Michelle and Stuart's Wedding - Redhill
Its been a little while since we posted an update on our Blog, so we're really excited to share with you some images from Michelle and Stuart's wedding day on 20th August 2010. The wedding took place at the Europa Gatwick Hotel, whilst the wedding portrait session itself took place very close to Michelle and Stuart's home in Redhill, Surrey.
Michelle and Stuart were a fantastic couple to work with, and we had a great deal of fun shooting the portrait session itself in Redhill- We were fortunate enough to get some wonderful light during the session! Hope you enjoy the images from this wonderful wedding day.

Brenda and I are pleased to say that we have shot at Addington Palace a couple of times now, and we have always been very impressed with the character of the property, as well as the beauty of the grounds. In and around Croydon it has picked up the reputation of being one of the most stunning venues to get married in. We actually shot Brendaâs brothers wedding at Addington Palace too. I remember the day very well- we grabbed a great group shot of the all the guys standing on the famous fallen tree, which you can see on this gallery page. Oaks Farm Wedding Photography
We're delighted to say that we recently became one of the preferred suppliers for Oaks Farm. Oaks Farm is a truly wonderful venue located in Shirley, which is a couple of miles away from Croydon in Surrey. The venue has a wonderful country feel to it, and when you are there you completely forget that you are so close to a major town in South London!

The staff at Oaks Farm are incredibly accommodating and helpful, and go out of their way to ensure that both the bride and groom, as well as their guests are really looked after well. This is an incredibly important factor when considering a wedding venue- whilst it's really important that you love the look and 'feel' of your venue it's perhaps more important that the staff their are attentive and go out of their way to look after you.
From a photographer's perspective the venue offers some really stunning features that can be incorporated into the bride and groom's portrait shoot. These include some beautifully landscaped lawns as well as a pond that looks absolutely stunning in photos.
We're delighted to say that we have shot a few weddings at Oaks Farm, including Anna and James' summer wedding. It's a venue we always look forward to working at. What is Mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma is a kind of cancer, that is statistically quite rare, that targets cells in the surfaces of the bodyâs internal organs. It mainly attacks the lungs or abdomen, and there are very strong and close links between the disease and prolonged exposure to asbestos. Typically the latency period in this form of cancer can be very long. Latency refers to the period of time between the initial exposure and the onset of the illness. In many cases workers exposed to asbestos at an early age go on to develop the condition in later life.
Mesothelioma in the Chest
In the majority of Mesothelioma cases the cancer takes hold within the patientâs lungs, and this is known medically as Pleural Mesothelioma. The pleural lining itself actually has two layers. The first, the inner layer, is located next to the lung itself and the outer layer is located next to the chest. The purpose of the pluera is to produce a kind of fluid that helps the body to lubricate these two layers so that they can comfortably âslideâ against one another whilst we breathe.
In the case of a patient diagnosed with Pleural mesothelioma, the condition actually makes the fluid thicken. This in turn can cause the pleura to either attach to the lungs or the chest wall. This leads to severely restricted breathing. In fact, itâs not uncommon for several litres of fluid to build up in the lungs, causing severe discomfort and pain in the sufferer.
Mesothelioma in the abdomen (peritoneal)
This form of Mesothelioma is less common, and typically occurs in only 30% of cases. It targets and effects the abdominal lining otherwise known as the peritoneum. In a similar manner to the pleural lining there are two parts to the peritoneum- the inner layer (visceral peritoneum) covers the internal organs. In turn the abdominal cavity is covered by the parietal peritoneum. The cells in the lining also secrete a similar fluid to the pleura which allows the abdominal organs to move against each other. In cases of peritoneal mesothelioma the cancer causes the overproduction of these fluids in the abdominal
Maiko & Fabricio's Wedding Part 1
Maiko and Fabricio got married on a lovely day in August. Their day started off at the very grand Wandsworth Registry Office, with just themselves and two other couples present (not forgetting little Natalie of course!)
